Hi, I’m Simon

This is me with my boys, Henry & Fred. I’m into exotic food, music from around the world, traveling to interesting places, longboarding, chocolate and of course photography, especially documentary photography.

I live in the Hinterland, just outside of Maleny. It's beautiful, we have the best sunsets, and worlds worst internet and mobile phone connection.

I love them more than a fat kid loves cake.

"Photography is the simplest thing in the world, but it is incredibly complicated to make it really work"

-Martin Parr

My love of documentary photography started when I was introduced to the work of Martin Parr, the idea of a photograph saying something about the place, the people, the time and the emotion intrigues me far more than generic staged images.

I have been photographing weddings for nearly 10 years and lucky enough to work in Spain, Zimbabwe, England, Ireland, St Thomas, America and Australia. I’ve also documented couples from all walks of life and to be honest, that’s one of my favourite things about my job. Hippies, hipsters, celebrities, heads of state, millionaires and bogans, all fun!

To give you a brief idea of how I document your day, I start with the the bridal preparation and then shoot until about an hour after the first dance or longer. My approach is not so much about endless lines of formal groups or specific shot lists, its more about telling the story of your day with beautiful images that capture the spirit and emotion without missing any of your personal special touches and details. Ultimately my goal is to provide you with images that remind you of exactly how your day felt.

There are no rules to my photography, you can change the order of anything you like and spend hours with me taking portraits at a beautiful  location or use that time socialising with your guests so we only disappear for about half an hour or so. I spend the rest of my time photographing natural smiles with genuine emotion, hardly interfering at all.

It takes about 3-6 weeks to process around 800 final images. These will include all the details that make your wedding personal to you, formal group photographs, some epic portraits and anything else I see. All safe online, avalible for download for years to come with copyright owned by you the client.

If all that sounds good to you, complete my inquiry form and I'll let you know if I'm free to photograph your amazing day. Ask anything you like, I'd love to meet you for a chat and bring my sample album so you can see some of my work in print.

Simon :-)
